- Description: A trained pilot watched something the size of a city block move overhead in total silence. Two decades later, the Pentagon photographed a near-identical shape near a different base. Neither has been explained.

At 4:30 in the morning over Bagram Air Base in 2002, a military pilot watched the stars go out. Not clouds. Something solid, moving silently from west to east: equilateral triangle, enormous, no lights, no sound, and then gone.

That account is among the newly released records in the Pentagon's fifth disclosure of UFO-related files. The 41 new documents, images and videos were pulled from the Pentagon, FBI, CIA, State Department and Executive Office of the President, with the oldest material dating to 1950 and the most recent from this year.

The Bagram account stands out not because it's unusual for this archive; it isn't, but because of what the detail implies. The object "appeared as if something huge went overhead, from west to east, and was an equilateral triangle shape," moving "silently, at a consistent speed and altitude, possibly 150 knots, with no lights visible." The pilot estimated it was 500 feet across, though he couldn't fully make out its shape, and said the pilot flying with him saw it too and reacted with the same disbelief.

A second black triangle turned up in the same wave of files, spotted in October 2023 near a U.S. military base in Colorado Springs, Colorado, as EarthSky separately reported. Witnesses described a triangular craft with a red light at each corner; the FBI even produced a formal rendering of what they saw. Black triangles like these have surfaced in UAP reports for decades, one of the most consistently described shapes in the entire archive, and still nobody has explained why.

The Pentagon says the material posted through this program involves unresolved cases. They looked, they couldn't explain it, and now it's yours.

The stars over Bagram haven't answered any questions since 2002\. Neither has the sky over Colorado Springs.

**Hot Take:** There it is again. Same triangle, different zip code, same shrug from the people who filmed it.
