# A Watch That Was Right Before, Right After, and 25 Minutes Wrong in Between

Somewhere in the western United States (the FBI's own account won't say where), two witnesses spent roughly five hours watching unexplained red lights move along a mountain ridgeline, hover six feet off the ground and drift through a dry wash below them. Neither man reported fear. Just curiosity. Then one of them checked his watch.

It read 1:00am. His phone said 12:40am.

The watch was a mechanical analog he'd owned for five years. In five years, it had never run more than 60 to 90 seconds fast. He'd checked it at 10:00pm during the encounter and it was accurate then. Every other clock in the vicinity, his companion's digital watch, the phones, the vehicle's dash, agreed on the same time. Only the analog was off. By exactly 25 minutes.

Here's the part that's hard to dismiss: he left the watch alone for 24 hours to see if it was malfunctioning. It wasn't. It kept perfect time. It just kept it 25 minutes ahead of where it had been before the lights appeared.

The document is an FBI FD-302, released August 7 as part of PURSUE Release 05, the government's ongoing declassification effort, and it is redacted extensively. Names, location, dates, the professional facility where Witness 1 developed his night-optics experience: all gone. What remains is a methodical, calm account from someone who knew exactly what satellites look like and confirmed these weren't them.

The FBI notes the document "contains neither recommendations nor conclusions." The watch, apparently, has no such disclaimer.
